Justices of the Peace Courts
JUSTICE OF THE PEACE COURTS exercise both criminal and civil jurisdiction. Criminal cases involve Class C misdemeanor offenses, while civil cases involve disputes of $5,000 or less. In these matters, JP courts act as small claims courts. Justices of the Peace also conduct inquests.
